It’s time for the annual VWS Open Day 2018! It is once again at the Newlands Forest Fire Base in Newlands Forest on the 24th November 2018 from 9am till 4pm.

Join the VWS for this FUN-FILLED FAMILY and AWARENESS DAY as we demonstrate our fire-fighting skills and raise awareness about #wildfires (along with our base partner, Table Mountain National Park).

Registration of your children will be compulsory to allow them to partake in the various activities on the day BUT the great news is you can do this online right now here: http://bit.ly/VWSOpenDay2018_Registration

Come and take part in the activities for all kids (adult ‘kids’ as well). There will be abseiling, snake displays, firefighting equipment, fire truck rides, tug-of-war, indoor and outdoor exhibitions, helicopters and the best dressed fire-kid competition. The thrilling helicopter and firefighting displays will be followed by an end of day foam party!

There will also be delicious food (beorewors roles, hot dogs, pizza and delicious pancakes) on sale to help you keep the hunger at bay while having a great time. Also, some cool merchandise and awesome kids firefighting toys on sale.

We will only be accepting payments in cash and through Snapscan so please bring cash along or register on Snapscan by downloading the app via www.snapscan.co.za.

While there is some parking at Newlands Forest fire base is this being used for moms and tots. There will be plenty of Parking at the University of Cape Town and free shuttles will be operating to being people to Newlands Fire base – please see the map below.

Come and join us for a day of fun and awareness about wildfire and fynbos! See you there. Feel free to invite all your family and friends for a wonderful day out with the kids!

Post your photos on social media using #VWSOpenDay! We would love to see them all.

Entry on the day is free… (but your support to our cause fighting wildfires are most welcome and go a long way to getting our crews kitted out and on the fire line).
