Please note ticket sales were originally stopped due to COVID-19 regulations which prohibit gatherings of more than 100 people.Due to the level change only in September a permit was unfortunately unattainable in the short time we had.
THE RACE HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL AN ANTICIPATED DATE OF 14 NOVEMBER 2021 so please keep your ticket if that is convenient to you.
We anticipate rescheduling this event to 14 November 2021, so please join us for the Nuweberg VWS Trail Challenge on the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve, just outside Grabouw. You will traverse the pristine trails of the Hottentots Holland Mountains and experience firsthand the wonder of the Fynbos which sustains our mountain water catchment areas.
Challenge yourself with a 22km or 10km route in some of the most breathtaking vistas the Overberg region has to offer.
The VWS Nuweberg Trail Challenge 2020 follows a most successful inaugural event in November 2018, and is designed to test the mettle of avid trail runners and casual runners (and walkers) alike, as you traverse the slopes of the Hottentots Holland mountains.
You will experience pristine Fynbos and breath-taking vistas as you navigate the trails we have chosen for you.
Run and organised entirely by Volunteer Wildfire Services (VWS) volunteer wildland firefighters, all proceeds go towards the VWS, an entirely volunteer-run, non-profit organisation dedicated to the protection of biodiversity and the preservation of our mountain catchments and natural heritage.
We receive no official or municipal funding, and all funds are used for operational and logistical expenses to fight wildfires. These funds are raised by our volunteers, via donations or events such as this race.
The event offers runners a chance to do two routes: ±22km or ±10km, with the race start and finish at Cape Canopy Tours, Grabouw at Nuweberg in the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve.
Should you not be able to participate, donations are welcome and would be greatly appreciated.
You can also purchase a Volunteer Wildfire Services Proud Supporter buff to wear on the day (and at all your other races), and show your support for our cause.
